A Visit To Svartholma

Few weeks ago I visited Svartholma. It is 15 minutes by boat from Valco, Loviisa. It was an old place where you can see old canyons. It was actually an old military place used long time ago. History remains and people are trying to preserve it.

The Särkjärventie Lake

Last weekend we went to Särkjärventie lake, few minutes away from the city. The weather was so beautiful as so as the lake. It was so nice being there enjoying the hot sunshine. And the warm water that makes you want to swim. It was so nice being away from the busy city for awhile. You know time to relax your body and mind just enjoying looking around the beautiful beauty of nature. I am a type of person who loves to see trees around rather than big buildings. I love nature places. I love lakes, seas, mountains, etc. They are a perfect place to relax.

Helsinki Samba Carnaval 2011

The Association of Samba Schools in Finland (ASSF) is an umbrella organization uniting all Finnish samba schools, whose purpose is to promote samba in Finland.

The main event organized by ASSF is the annual Helsinki Samba Carnaval - a Rio de Janeiro style street carnival right in the center of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The first carnival organized by ASSF took place in 1991 in the city of Turku, but since 1993 the event has been organized in Helsinki every summer. On carnival Saturday in June every year, the streets of Helsinki are filled with dancers and drummers presenting their samba in colorful fantasias as tens of thousands of spectators enjoy the show!

I was blessed to be able to witnessed the carnival. It was held on my birthday (June 11) so for me that day was amazing and full of fun. Here are some photos of the events.

Guest Post: Turkey: Istanbul + Some Hidden Gems on the West Coast

Turkey's West coast is full of picturesque resort towns, offering visitors both a vibrant nightlife
and some great historical sites. Although most American tourists spend most of their vacation
time in Istanbul, few are aware of the hidden gems on the West coast. Don’t get me wrong,
Istanbul is one of my favorite cities. You can really find anything you are looking for in this
thriving metropolis: amazing Anatolian cuisine, modern, chic cafes and bars, and some of the
most hospitable people in the world. I would recommend staying in Istanbul for four or five
days. You will definitely have to go back again to explore the rest of city. However, after five
days, you may want to get out of hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the resort towns before
you leave the country. Here are some must dos in both Istanbul and Olympos, one of my
favorite cities bordering the Mediterranean. You can call this an itinerary, lacking a bit of detail.
Happy travels, or Iyi yolculuklar (as you would say in Turkish)!

Istanbul

Sultanahmet (Old Istanbul): This area holds some of Istanbul's most prized historical treasures.
Be sure to check out the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar.
Try to do all of these in a day, as this disctrict is very touristy. With the large number of tourists,
food and drink can be pretty expensive here!

Taksim Square and Beyoglu: Be sure to take a stroll on Istiklal Caddesi, one of the most
cosmopolitan streets and centers in Istanbul. Try some Turkish liquor called Raki and some
seafood appetizers (mezzes) at Cicek Pasaji (Flower passage), located in the center of Istiklal
Caddesi. Beyoglu also hosts some of the best museums in the region. Two of my favorites are
the Istanbul Modern (an art museum) and Pera Muzesi (a history and art museum).

Bebek: Bebek is one of the richest neighborhoods on the European side of Istanbul. The
neighborhood has beautiful cafes and bars, with breathtaking views of the Bosphorous! Another
great neighborhood, which is a must see in Istanbul, is Nisantasi.

Fish Market on the Asian Side: Take a ferry from Europe to Asia, and try out some restaurants
close to the Balik Pazari (fish market). If you are a seafood lover, Turkish calamari (kalamar)
and the catch of the day/season will never disappoint!

Antalya

Ok, once you see and do those activities in Istanbul, take a bus or plane to Antalya! Turkish
buses are reasonably priced and can be more luxurious than actual airplanes. However, the travel
time by bus from Istanbul to Antalya can be long, anywhere from 5-7 hours (depending on
number of stops). My favorite bus companies are Kamil Koc or Ulusoy, and tickets are usually
less than 40 dollars each way. Once you get to Antalya, check out the kale (old castle) and the
main city center, or downtown. This should take about half a day. Then take the next bus to

Olympos, which is about an hour and a half outside the city.

In Olympos, you will find old ruins from the Roman Empire, beautiful views of the
Mediterranean, delicious fish restaurants and a great nightlife in the summertime. All of this is in
a concentrated area, so your hotel concierge can give you more details, if necessary.

In this region, another amazing site is Kangaroo Island, south of the city. Here, visitors can commune with the native species of Australia, including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, penguins, and sea lions.

Victoria

Melbourne is the capital of Victoria, and it is the second largest city on the country. Here is where travelers will find the most dynamic fashion industry and shopping opportunities. Visitors will want to take a trip to Phillip Island around dusk, when the infamous Penguin Parade occurs daily. There is no experience comparable to watching several hundred small penguins make a mad dash to the shore for their burrows. One of the Victoria areas most inspiring day trips is to hit the open road on Great Ocean Road, which travels 66 miles of the most beautiful coastline in Australia.

Western Australia

This area of the country is one of the least visited, thus it is one of the wildest and best-preserved places for visitors to get a feel of The Outback. Traveling here gives visitors an opportunity to experience Australia’s second barrier reef, Ningaloo Marine Park, which is one of the few reefs in the world that is located on a western coast. With over 160 miles of virtually untouched reef to explore, the scuba diving here is just as exceptional as it is on the Great Barrier Reef. I Love Loviisa

Loviisa, Southern Finland is where i live recently. I love this town so much. It's small and peaceful. People are warm and nice. The country view of this small city is amazing. I love it!

Loviisa is a municipality and town of 7,417 inhabitants on the Southern coast of Finland. About 40% of the population is Swedish-speaking. The municipality encompasses 44.47 km² of which 0.02 km² is inland water. Population density is 166.86 inhabitants/km².

Loviisa was founded in 1745, as a border fortress against Russia. Most of the fortifications have been preserved. It is named after Lovisa Ulrika, the Swedish Queen consort of Adolf Frederick of Sweden. It is the site of one of Finland's two nuclear power stations, the other being at Olkiluoto. The Lovisa nuclear power plant consists of two VVER units, each of 488 MWe.

Okay, so how can i say this? This is my fourth times to visit Bohol Chocolate Hills and Ive been writing all about this place all over my blogs. Well, who wouldn't love this beautiful gift of nature? Its like man made but the truth is its made of nature. And how powerful nature is to have this beautiful creations? Only God knows.

I love to visit Bohol and this place is awesome and peaceful to live in. I wanna live there someday and make my beautiful rest house there someday. Kawasan Falls

Kawasan Falls is one of the popular destination in the southern part of Cebu. Located in Badian, Cebu about a 3 hour drive from the city. The sights along the drive are rewarding as you will go through many small towns, along vast fields of cows and coconut trees, and by many beautiful hills/mountains.

The area has many picnic tables, a swimming area right next to the falls, and bamboo barge rides that will take you right under the falls. One can also swim there as the area is not too large. Life jackets are available for a small fee.

The falls and surrounding scenery are breathtaking and very nice place to relax.

If you plan to visit Cebu, don't forget to also visit KAWASAN FALLS. You will for sure like it too.

The Bohol Chocolate Hills

The Chocolate Hills are Bohol's most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills. Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. The chocolate hills consist of are no less than 1268 hills (some claim this to be the exact number). They are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high. They are covered with grass, which, at the end of the dry season, turns chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name. At other times, the hills are green, and the association may be a bit difficult to make.

Mayon Volcano

The Mayon Volcano is an active volcano in the Philippines. Located in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region in Luzon. The near perfectly cone shaped volcano is situated 15 kilometres northwest of Legazpi City.

I haven't been there and I'm hoping someday i could visit that place. Such a unique place yet so dangerous. But it still consider tourist attraction in the Philippines.

Bohol Tarsier

The Philippine tarsier, (Tarsius syrichta) is very peculiar small animal. In fact it is one of the smallest known primates, no larger than a adult men's hand. Mostly active at night, it lives on a diet of insects. Folk traditions sometimes has it that tarsiers eat charcoal, but actually they retrieve the insects from (sometimes burned) wood. It can be found in the islands of Samar, Leyte, Bohol, and Mindanao in the Philippines.

Physical Description

General. The Philippine tarsier has a gray fur and a nearly naked tail. The middle finger is elongated. Head and body length are around 118-149 mm; It weighs 113-142 grams. Males are larger than females.

Eyes. In comparison with his body size, the eyes of the tarsier are enormous. In volume, the capacity of the bony eye orbits, or eye sockets, is larger than that of the brain case, and also larger than its stomach. Their eye sockets have post-orbital closure rather than the postorbital bar of the prosimians. This feature keeps the eyeballs from being pressed against by the powerful temporal muscles to their sides.

Tail. The tarsier has a relatively very long tail (232 mm), generally naked except for a tuft of hair at its end. The underside has dermal ridges like those found on human hands and feet. Its tail is used for balancing like a tripod; they prefer an erect posture at all times.

Head. Like an owl, the tarsier has a joint between its skull base and spine to allow head movement of a 180-degree arc. Its upper lip lacks a cleft yet, but still has muscles, so that it can make facial expressions. The adult brain weighs about 4 grams.

Teeth. Tarsiers have sharp teeth, enabling them to catch their prey easier. Unique among primates, tarsiers have only two, rather than four, incisors in their lower jaw. Their dental formula is 2.1.3.3 1.1.3.3 x 2 = 34.

Ankle bones. The name "tarsier" or "tarsius" is derived from the animal's very long ankle bones. The tibia and fibula of the tarsiers are fused in their lower portions, acting as a shock absorber. This is considered a primitive trait, which can normally be seen in quadrupeds. The lower limbs are twice the length of its trunk. These enable the tarsier to leap about three meters from tree to tree. Its movements are similar to that of a frog.

Comparison with other Primates. Tarsiers share some characteristics with both the prosimians and the anthropoids, while they also have some characteristics peculiar to themselves. Taxonomists have classified them as intermediate between both groups and have assigned them to their own infraorder, which contains just one living genus: Tarsius. Fossil records of this genus are found, dating back to the Eocene epoch, from 54 to 36 million years ago.

Liloan Light House

This lighthouse is the best known landmarks in Liloan. Located at Bagacay Point. Stands at a towering height of 72 feet in an uphill area overlooking the Mactan Channel. The original lighthouse was built in 1857 by the Spaniards. And the current tower was built on 1904 by the order of William Howard Taft, the first governor general in the Philippines.

The Light flashes white light source at every 5 seconds. For the past 101 years, this white octagonal tower has been the guiding light to mariners, navigators and fishermen from coastal towns in Northern Cebu.

LANDMARKS:

Celestial Garden- Is located in Banawa Hills, Cebu City. A 12 hectare compound, set in rolling hills where life-size carvings illustrate scenes from Station of the Cross.

Magellan's Cross- Is located in Magellan's Street, Cebu City. It is a symbol of the Christian faith in Cebu. Located at the shrine where the Magellan expedition Christianized Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana.

Colon Street- Can be found in downtown Cebu City is the oldest commercial hub in Cebu. It has old shops, movie houses, restaurants, and other business establishments take visitors to a walk down memory lane.

Lapu- Lapu Monument, Magellan Marker- Is located in Punta Engano, Lapu-Lapu City. It was built in 1866. It was the place where the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan was killed in a battle by Cebu chieftain Lapu-Lapu.

Liloan Lighthouse- It was built by the Americans in 1974. The Liloan Lighthouse stands 72 feet tall and looks out the Mactan Channel. It has provided guiding light to mariners, navigators, and fishermen in Northern Cebu.

MUSEUMS:

Fort San Pedro- A center of Spanish settlement in Cebu circa in 1600. It has withstood many wars before it was turned over to the National Museum for care and development. It has a miniature garden, artifacts from Spanish galleon San Diego and vestiges of old Spanish.

Casa Gorordo Museum- Located in Lopez Jaena Street, Cebu City. The first Filipino bishop of Cebu lived there. It was built on 1860, featured old paintings, museum relics and furniture from yesteryears.

Jumalon Museum- Located i Macopa Street, Pardo Hills, Cebu City. Features the mosaic art collection of Julian Jamalon,a notable for the ingenious use if butterfly wings to produce artworks.

Rizal Museum And Library- Located in Osmena Boulevard, Cebu City. Contains a memorabilia and mementoes of the Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. And also consists of artworks and antique collections from the oldest families in Cebu. The upper floors serve as a performing arts hall for concerts and theater productions.

Sala Piano Museum- Located in Gorordo Avenue, Lahug, Cebu City. Best known for its collection of pianos of different sizes and shapes. It also serve as a venue for concerts.

CHAPELS:

Basilica Minor Del Sto. Nino- Was built in 1565 by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Fr. Andres Urdaneta. It houses the oldest religious relics in the Philippines, such as the religious image of Santo Nino given by Magellan to Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana.

Chapel Of The Last Supper- Located in Mandaue City. A scene from the Last Supper brought to life by life-size carvings of Jesus Christ and his 12 apostles that date back to 1601.

Colon Street, Cebu City

Cebu Taoist Temple

Cebu Taoist Temple is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Cebu City on 1972. It was built by Cebu Chinese community. With an elevation of 300 meters above sea level,the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.

[Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple^[2], the Ta oist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. The ritual includes washing of hands, going inside the chapel barefoot and dropping two blocks of wood. If the blocks of wood are both face up then one could make a wish. If not then it is not yet the time for one's wish to be granted and one has to come to the temple some other time.

The temple is the center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tze. Another ritual among Taoist devotees, which is done during Wednesdays and Sundays,^[3] is the climbing of its 81 steps (representing the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures) to light joss sticks and have their fortune read by the monks.] - Wikipedia

Cebu Magellan's Cross

Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan when they arrived in Cebu, Philippines on April 21, 1521.

This cross is located near the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street in front of the city hall of Cebu City.

Magellan's Cross is a symbol of Cebu, and the chapel's image can be found in its city seal. It is also seen as the symbol of Roman Catholicism in the Philippines.

Mayon Volcano of the Philippines

Mayon Volcano or the Mount Mayon is an active astravolcano in the Albay province in the Bicol Region, Luzon in the Philippines.

Known as the "perfect cone" because of its almost symmetrically conical shape, Mayon forms the northern boundary of Legaspi City. Local folklore refers to the volcano as Bulkang Magayon after the legendary heroine Daragang Magayon or the "Lady Beautiful".

On October 13, 2008 it was included in New 7 Wonders of Nature Top 10 list. However, it did not make the cut to the Top 25 finalists, giving way to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, another site in the Philippines.

BOSHAM HARBOUR, SUSSEX, ENGLAND

This is one of the most peaceful places I know in the country, and possibly my favorite. The village is on the coast, on an offshoot of Chichester Harbour, on the South Coast of England, UK.

The area has been inhabited since Roman times, their Basilica standing where the Saxon Church now stands. There is also a theory that King Harold was buried in the churchyard after the Battle of Hastings, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Be careful when you visit, as there is a big difference between the high and low tide levels. When the tide is out you can cross the harbour on foot, but when the tide is in, this is impossible, and parts of the road are covered too.

Olango Island

Olango Island supports the largest concentration of migratory birds found so far in the country. Migration starts from the breeding places of birds in Siberia, Northern China and Japan. Anticipating the scarcity of food and winter cold, these birds fly as far as Australia and New Zealand from late July until late November. This is usually referred to as the Southward Migration. By late February until May, these birds return to their breeding grounds in the reverse Northward Migration.

This was me at Olango Wildlife Sanctuary. It was June and we weren't able to witness birds on that day since it was not the season.

I am a fan of American Idol. I always tried my best to watch it every week. In this season, my bit is no other than Crystal Bowersox. She's really the best. And her voice is so nice and amazing. I wanted her to win. I really thought she will win. And I was surprised to know that Lee won. Well, Lee was good too. A very good looking guy that seems so sweet and quiet. He has a nice voice too. Banaue Rice Terraces aka. "Hagdan Hagdang Palayan" were carved in the mountains of Ifugao, Philippines by our ancestors of the Batad Indigenous people. This 2000 year old Banaue rice terraces has been recognized as one of the "Eighth Wonders of the World". It is the only man made wonder that is sculpted from earth. It was1995, when Banaue Rice terraces was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is composed of rice fields to provide themselves a source of livelihood in the highlands. The location of Banaue rice terraces is 1, 500 meters or 5, 000 feet above sea level and it covers 10, 630 square kilometers about 4, 000 square miles of the mountainside. This wonder has been fully maintained by an ancient irrigation system from the rain forest above the terraces.

This place is greatly known as well as a great tourist destination in the Philippines because aside from its stairway design heading to the sky, there are a lot of hiking trails in the area. It is located north of Manila at Cordillera Mountain Province.

A store logo of Jollibee was shown during the production number of Artie in the episode Dream On to the tune of Safety Dance. Glee is an American musical comedy-drama television series that airs on Fox in the United states.

This made us Filipinos proud of. And will motivate us to watch the Glee series episodes.

A Visit To Mactan Shrine

Yesterday was my day off. My sister and I went to Mactan Shrine. It was actually Kadaugan Sa Mactan Festival. The place was full of people, things display and also food trips. We had so many photos taken. But I choose these because I liked it. My sister was so busy doing her shopping mode. She was busy looking for something. (ssh... I don't know if she found what she was looking for)... But I am sure she had fun as much as I did.

Kadaugan Sa Mactan Festival

Today April 27, 2010 is the Kadaugan sa Mactan Festival. It is celebrated every year to honor Lapu Lapu who won the fight against Ferdinand Magellan hundred years ago.
It is known to be celebrated in Cebu, Philippines in the month of April as the defeat of Magellan by Lupa Lupa is re-enacted annually at the beach of Barangay Mactan where the event had actually taken place (Mactan Shrine).

The 3 ships of Magellan are represented by the bancas or canoes and they are made to lead a river procession up to the beach. This act is followed by the re-enactment of the planting of the Magellan's Cross leading to the final act of Lapu-Lapu's victory. Kadaugan sa Mactan literally implies about the 'Victory of Mactan'. It was also called Bahugbahug sa Mactan or 'Melee at Mactan' when it was initially staged in 1981. The exact time of the commencement of the festival mostly depends on the tidal conditions and otherwise it is known to begin at around 8 in the early morning hours. This festival is mostly celebrated on the 27th of April with much grandeur and pageantry. This festival grants the Cebuano people a good opportunity to re-visit the days of Mactan Battle between Magellan and Lapu-Lapu and also to celebrate their history and events.

This year's celebration the guy who will act as Lapu Lapu is no other than the actor Philip Salvador.

Last Friday, me and my sister went to the church to attend the mass and to kiss Jesus Christ cross. After the mass, the procession started. It was such a long walk. Two hours of walk while praying the rosary. I can't imagine how many people joined the procession. A thousands of people joined the celebration. Filipinos really are so faithful and very religious. I was glad and heart fulfilled that I was able to attend that kind of activities. Holy Friday where Jesus dead and crucified. I can feel the pain and the sacrifices he made to save us.In a two hours walk i got my feet swollen. We were so tired and wanted to surrender. But I realized why can't i do this when God really did? So me and sis made it till the finish line- the church.

What about you guys? What did you do last Friday? I know we have different religion. Does anyone here a Catholic one?

Anyway, it's Sunday. God has risen. We are saved. We must be grateful.

Beaches In Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island

Sta. Fe is busier during the Lenten Season with hundreds of people who gather to its white sandy beaches. Reservations to Bantayan's beach resorts for the Lenten Season should be done six months to one year earlier. As early as February this year, the resorts have already been fully booked.

It was March 2008 when I first went to Bantayan Island. At first I was hesitant to visit because it's very from the city. But then some of my friends really tried to convinced me to go with them. And so I did. We went there Holy Thursday night. It was holiday so I don't have work. We rode a bus going to San Remigio to where we could take a boat going to the island. It was bad because when we arrived at the port, the ship already departed. Sad because we have to wait till early morning to catch up the first trip ship. And we arrived there around 12 midnight and the first shift is at 4am. Sorry for us.

We took the first trip boat and arrived there so early. (Look at that picture). As we arrived, some Banyanons welcome us. I was so happy finally I got there. We took a jeepney going to my friend's house. We were all have good times together. We went to the beach and swam. It was that time I realized how beautiful Bantayan Island is. Fresh air, not populated, nice people and nice beaches. I love to go there again and spend my vacation. It was the best vacation ever. Though, its only 2 days vacation but I treasured it so much.

A Filipina Domestic Helper

Philippines is such a wonderful country everyone love to visit. A country of beautiful people, nice people, hospitality always present. But why some people call our country as a "country of servant"? We react violently whenever we see our country's international beauty pageant contestants, being insulted with such embarrassing question as " How do you respond to people who say that the Philippines is today's number one supplier of DOMESTIC HELPERS?" We got angry when "Filipina" is defined "MAID" in some dictionaries.

I think we have to wake up for this issues and need to accept the truth. Thousands of wives leave their husband behind. Thousands of mothers leave their young children to some relatives just to continue their journey to foreign land to work as a domestic helper for foreign employers who look down on them as "lesser human beings". They eat their pride as they think their life will become better if they will work in other countries.

It is very common now nowadays, even to young people who just finished their studies, also aim to work abroad for greater income. Professionals work as a maid or factory workers in other countries. What happened to our country? We have all the natural resources other countries don't have. Why do we have to work to other countries and leave our love ones in Philippines?

Well, that's the truth and we need to accept it. Our country is the main source of domestic helpers. Sad but we must be proud of them. They are our hero.

Iloilo City fire

MANILA, Philippines - One person has been reported killed after fire razed more than 100 homes before dawn Saturday in La Paz district, Iloilo City.

The fire struck shortly after midnight while people in Iloilo City were preparing for one of the most anticipated fiestas in the country, the Dinagyang Festival, which is held every 4th Sunday of January.

A radio dzMM report said the fire razed homes in Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz for about an hour.

Iloilo City firemen were augmented by nearby towns to put out the fire, the report added.

The report said that firemen have recovered a body from one of the gutted homes.

Mopping up operations were ongoing while fire investigators determine the cause of the blaze.

There were reports that the fire was ignited by an unattended candle. Hundreds of residents have been brought to a barangay gym and an elementary school. They are in need of food, water and clothing. With a report from Nonie Basco, radio dzMM.

A Walk For Santo Niño

Sinulog is a nine-day fiesta celebration in honor of Sto. Nino. The celebration entails two major activities: the religious procession on a Saturday and the grand street parade the following day.

Organized by the Augustinian order, the solemn procession in Honor of the Child Jesus is basically the same manner as of the other religious processions in the Catholic Church. It begins in the church and ends in the church.

Millions of pilgrims and devotees of Sto. Nino flock the streets going to the Basilica bringing with them candles and
rosaries as they respond to the holy rosary which is spoken in different languages.

Parishioners from different parishes, business sectors, colleges and universities, government officials, archdiocesan organizations and all sectors in the Cebuano community, including group of friends,
families and relatives join together in honoring the patron saint.

The solemn procession route may vary every year to cater to other barangays who were not visited by the Child Jesus the other year and also depending on the estimated number of devotees participating the event.

After the procession a high mass is going to be celebrated.

Immediately after the mass, performing the Sinulog dance is recommended for those who have petitions. Many people believe that their hopes in life are answered by dancing the Sinulog after the solemn procession. A dancer must have his or her own candle for dancing. Dancing with complete strangers, armed with candles in hand and hearts filled with pure love our beloved Sto. Niño, will surely not only please one’s self – but the dear Child Jesus as well.

Hostage In Prosperidad, Agusan Del sur

Another hostages happened in Mindanao 2 days ago. In Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur where many of the students and teachers were hostage after their school flag ceremony. Tribal gunmen in Southern Philippines took at least a hundred pupils including teachers. Some of them were able to escaped though after few hours. As of Friday, December 11, 2009 there are still 47 hostages captive in the two-day hostage drama.

Ondo Perez, the gunmen group leader said "I will kill the hostages if police attempt to rescue them,". Police and other local government officials in Prosperidad had worked together in order to solve the problem. And still in negotiations.

My Christmas wish list number 2 is this Apple Mac Air. I like the color white.

This notebook is the latest release from the Apple company. I like it because it's too thin and light to carry. It is more advance than any other laptop brand (as far as I know).

I wish to have it and right now, it's currently number 2 in my wish list this Chrismas.

Today is the feast of Birhen Sa Regla church in Opon, Lapu- Lapu City. It is celebrated every year in honor of the patron of Birhen Sa Regla. The traditional way of celebrating it is by a fluvial parade and a prayer parade. The fiesta is the next big celebration in Cebuano's next to Sinulog.

The beaches of the Boracay Island is located off the north-western tip of Panay Island, Philippines. Boracay is world famous and is almost always the first beach mentioned when tourist, foreign & locals alike talk about vacation places in the Philippines.

The island of Boracay is 7.5 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide. The popular powdery White Sand Beach (which take up most of the western side of the island) is where most of tourist go to see and be seen.

Maria Christina Falls

Maria Cristina Falls is a waterfall in Mindanao island and a landmark of Iligan City, also known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls because of its majestic waterfalls. It is located 8.5 kilometers away southwest of the city proper. Well-known for its natural beauty and grandeur, the 320-feet high waterfalls is also the primary source of power for the city's industries and the whole Mindanao region. NPC has established its Maria Christina Power Plant at outer foot of the falls.

It was in the province of Cebu that Ferdinand Magellan first set foot in Philippine soil back in 1521. Even before the Spaniards came, trade with the Chinese already flourished in the province. Prosperity has continued, and today, Cebu City, known as the Queen City of the South, has become a thriving, highly urbanized center that comes second to Manila’s bustling metropolis.

Only a few minutes away from the city are numerous white sand beaches, crystal blue waters, and swaying palms, making Cebu a perfect destination for both business and leisure. Mactan Island is a coral island and famous scuba diving and beach site. It is also the site of the Export Processing Zone. Malapascua Island is endowed with white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, and the west coast is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The sleepy little market town of Moalboal was one of the first places where scuba diving caught on in the Philippines. From here, you can dive straight off Panagsama Beach, which is home to an extraordinary array of coral, anemones, sponges, and a swarming host of brightly colored reef fish.

Olango Island in Cebu supports the largest concentration of migratory birds found in the country. These birds migrating from Russia stop here en route to Australia.

Senator Francis Escudero Leaves NPC Party

Senator Francis Escudero declared today (October 28) he was leaving the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), a party he's been faithful to since he started his political career 11 years ago. Addressing supporters and media at the historic Club Filipino in Greenhills in San Juan City, the 40-year-old senator gave several reasons why he was leaving the party of his friend Danding Cojuangco, Jr.

He believed that running in election doesn't need someone to rely on. He said, he is not sure in running any post in 2010 Philippine's election. The young senator sought for more time to think about his decision on whether or not to run for a higher post and for what position. But he will soon announce whatever his decision would be. As he said, whoever is running for President, he or she should not be under any political party.

Senator Escudero is a good man and if ever he decide to run for president, I would give him my full support. For now, let us give him enough time to think and let him decide.

Beaches In Bohol

Photos were taken at Bohol Beach Club in Panglao, Bohol. I like the beaches there because of its white and fine sand. I really love beaches like that. They are a gift of nature. If I'd have an option where to spend my vacation, I'd rather choose to go the beach, island hopping or snorkeling, than going to the city and have a night life. Going to the beach is more interesting. It is a good place to rest and relax.
